Intel
Oakley Customer Story
The power of partnerships
THE ASSIGNMENT
Intel’s vision for computing isn’t limited to PCs and data centers, but rather the entire universe of connected devices, sensors and intelligent wearables. The company’s New Technology Group was formed to identify leading consumer brands in fashion, sports, fitness and innovative startups who were interested in partnering with Intel to build new intelligent, connected devices that would provide valuable new consumer experiences. Intel asked us to shoot three customer stories to help tell that story at its annual sales conference. Our mission was to focus on the partnership and what each company brought to the table.
SOLUTION
We shot customer stories for Oakley in California, Tag Heurer at its design facility in Switzerland and Yuneec, a Chinese drone maker in Hong Kong.
Oakley was interested in building a new line of intelligent sports eyewear that could interactively coach runners and cyclists during their workouts. Intel partnered with the company to integrate various sensor technologies, software and Intel’s Real Speech technology to provide voice feedback that responds in real time to workout data generated by the glasses.
Athletes interact with the voice via embedded Bluetooth headphones to ask questions about their performance, heart rate, stride, running distance and time. The product, called Radar Pace, is also integrated with a smartphone app. Pretty cool tech.
