Dreamforce goes virtual

THE ASSIGNMENT

Dreamforce, the undisputed king of tech conferences drew over 45,000 attendees from 140 countries to its annual takeover of San Francisco in 2024. But in 2020 and 2021, Salesforce faced the challenge of hosting its entire conference virtually.

A key part of the Dreamforce experience is sharing how Salesforce customers use the platform to grow their companies, drive consumer engagement and improve customer service. Traditionally, this was done as a live presentations on stage with demos and customer participation.

SOLUTION

Our virtual production studio gave the internal Salesforce creative services group an opportunity to approach these presentations in a new way. Now they could take the audience on a journey to different locations—both real and imaginary—to bring each story to life. Plus they could weave graphics and 3D animation into the video to illustrate different concepts.

The Salesforce in-house graphics team developed the 3D animated characters and most Unreal Engine environments. Our virtual production and VFX teams worked closely with them to solve the many technical challenges along the way, testing background performance and incorporating foreground set pieces and props to seamlessly blend the real and Unreal components of every scene.

Each demo featured Salesforce product marketing executives as they demonstrate how customers like ATT, Sonos, Bentley and Adidas engage consumers and build brand affinity through experiences built on the Salesforce platform.

We shot over 100 days to create all of the demo videos. We’re sharing a few here to give you a taste for how we approached them creatively.
